Yin Yoga Practice

    Yin Yoga

I am worthy of rest.

I  gracefully receive the benefits of non doing.

I enjoy being quiet

So I can touch the sky with my eyes and

touch the wind with my ears

In silence,

I hear the voice in my heart, saying

we are friends.

This perfect body is a container that I reside in, and I watch the mind's thoughts and

observe sensations playing through this vessel with wonder and amusement.

In this practice, I befriend my self and water the seeds of  self love and understanding.

Allowing myself to unfold and reveal the secrets and gifts the world has been waiting to see.

This modality is a another way of practicing yoga. Yoga in its totality consists of asana, pranayama and meditation. So much of what is practiced and promoted today is only focused on yang style asana (physical postures that are exercising the muscles.) Practicing Yin Yoga complements muscular styles of Yoga and is a great introduction to wetting the appetite for meditation. One holds the poses for about 4 - 5 minutes, gently stretching the connective tissues (ligaments and tendons). While practicing yoga in a yin way, we have more room to observe the mind as we open the body at a deeper level. In this quiet container we create together, one starts to witness the subtle chattering of the mind wanting to move here and there, and think this and that. As the journey continues, you experience for yourself the truth of the arising and passing of this mind phenomena and eventually experience stillness -- on the mental and physical planes. It is a beautiful opportunity to befriend, love and find understanding for all aspects of your being and cultivate ease under challenging situations.

This class is taught with the aid of soundscapes enabling you to reach deeper states of meditation in the practice.
