Winner of the Jury Award Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival

Guardians of the Selva Maya from Rana Lee Araneta on Vimeo. Jury's Award (Festival Award) “Guardians of the Selva Maya” trailer (USA, 2007 director Rana Lee Araneta) Jury Statement: The film portrayed the genuine sense of a community united to strengthen the fabric of their existence, and depicted children as an integral part of long-term sustainability planning. We all believed that the film's central message – in order to change the world we need to change how we think – as depicted through the eyes of children was both heart-warming and extremely well crafted. When one of the children states 'I planted this tree with affection' you could almost feel a seismic shift in the cultural inertia.
